Here’s an email I sent to a client whose domains I’m hosting on GridServer – information on how to deal with email on the Grid:
Setting up
To set up Outlook see http://kb.mediatemple.net/article.php?id=272
Sending emails
Make sure you enable authentication in Outlook to send emails – for how to do this see http://kb.mediatemple.net/article.php?id=058
Spam
The default setting for everyone is that when a spam email comes in, it goes to your spam folder on the server which you need to manually check periodically. If you would like, I can change your settings to bypass that and deliver that (suspected) spam email directly to you (this is if you want Outlook to deal directly with your spam) in which case please let me know. You should regularly check your spam folder on the server by logging in to webmail (for the more technically inclined, you can check your mail – and your spam folder – by setting up IMAP account with the same settings as your POP settings).
Webmail

Gmail
It is highly recommended that you get yourself a Gmail account. It’s free, has huge storage and functions well as a backup if something goes wrong with your primary email. Plus you can check your gmail emails using Outlook and also send mail using their servers. Here’s how: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13278
Autoreply
The autoreplies need to be manually set up (and removed) by a [website] administrator.
